It’s a party that only comes once a century! Ring in 2020 with a throwback celebration to the original ’20s decade. This once-in-a-lifetime event is bound to leave your guests dazzled. Plan for gold, feathers and plenty of gin for a Gatsby-esque soiree that can make even the most modest party-goer blush. Here’s how to make it memorable…
Add The ExtravaganceWe’re talking marabou feathers, pearls and glittering detail. Everything is luxe and over the top (but super easy to replicate.) Pick up a feather centerpiece for your main showstopper. Spread out traditional snacks from the speakeasy era, like oysters and clams casino. For the shrimp cocktail, we used our Trianna Cocktail Glasses with a glitzy gold rim to make it elegant.
The biggest attraction? Your champagne fountain! Simply stack a few coupe glasses in a pyramid and pour the champagne from the top. Your guests will love the showmanship and it makes it easy for them to grab their glass and enjoy.
Go For The GoldGold and black make a dramatic pair. Try different combinations of gold Tuxedo plates over geo-inspired Winston or a gold-on-gold look of Tuxedo and our Lowell dinner plate. Mix in this Colebrook Onyx flatware to match your darkly enticing style.
And no ’20s party is complete without (discrete) drinking. We created an art-déco cocktail menu for you to bring to your party. Print out the menu and have your guests order their cocktails in code. Someone want a zesty Mint Julep? Be on the lookout for the words “Peppermint Patty” Need a fruity drink? Keep an ear out for the code “Movie Star”.
Be SneakyPretend it’s Prohibition! Just like the days when alcohol was illegal, have your friends hide their drinks in teacups. Our dainty Rutledge teacups are the perfect hidden gem. Designed in the 1920s, this vibrant pattern fits right in with your theme and discreetly holds your drink. Just the thought of your guests getting tipsy over tea is enough to make your night!
Get The Look
Now for your outfit. Women: try swinging flapper dresses, black stockings, long gloves and pearls. Slick back your hair at the top and let your loose curls flip out from the bottom of a round headband. Tuck a feather by your ear and accessorize your look with a long cigarette holder. Men have it a bit easier with black slacks, suspenders and a tie. Top off your polished outfit with a bowler hat or Jeff cap and you’re ready to start the ‘20s off right!
