These are wonderful bowls for a LOT of things -- not just pasta.
I have two sets of these. They used to be made in the US. They no longer are. It's a bit disappointing, but they've closed up the factory that made Chirp and it was our main dish pattern, so we'll likely have to transition to something else over time. But they do seem to still be making a few in other countries. Like this pasta bowl. Now, apart from a slight tint in the paint colour, they're identical to the ones made in the US. Same quality. Same look. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them as replacements.
They are a great size. Larger than a chirp salad plate. Slightly smaller than the dinner plates. They hold a lot of pasta. But they also hold... well... everything. And they're not very deep, which means they stand upright nicely in the dishwasher (yes, they're dishwashable and microwaveable). I use them for temporary bowls while cooking, bone bowls, salad bowls... whenever I need a larger bowl, these are a great go-to, because I can then just stick them in the dishwasher, and they stack right next to the plates without taking up extra space. I can fit a LOT of these in the dishwasher (I don't HAVE a lot of them, but I COULD). They're fantastic as general purpose bowls if only just for this reason.
But also, they're fine china -- bone china, so they're incredibly durable (don't drop them on the ground, but they're going to last a good while). The glaze on them is beautifully done, and the motif is cheerful and fun. Overall, it's a great product. I'd take a star away because…
